About Ukraine

Geographical location

The Ukraine is one of the largest countries in Europe, with a land area of 603,700 square kilometers; a coastline of 2,782 kilometers, as well as a population of 45.70 million people (2008). An annual average temperature of 5.5 to 7 °C (42-45 °F) is experienced in the north, whereas temperatures in the south are 11 to 13 °C (52-55 °F).

Political

There is a democratically elected president in Ukraine. 450 Ukrainians are elected to the Verkhovna Rada or Ukrainian parliament, which is the highest legislative body. During the summer of 1991, Ukraine declared its independence from the USSR. Ukraine has opened its doors to international investors, businessmen, and tourists since the end of Soviet rule.
